4.2 New Portfolio Work

Over the last few months I have used art station to document a lot of my work both inside and outside of college, this has been a perfect opportunity to flesh out my portfolio and really show what I am capable of doing.

As of right now I have 37 pieces of work on my art station account, a majority of these pieces were added over the last few months, I’ll show you the pieces, explain what they are and why I put them in.

Western diorama project:

I have uploaded the entire western diorama project to my artstation account, I’ve included the polished work along with the ideas generation used in my project, I uploaded this to show my environment design skills and to show how my ideas can grow into final pieces.

Golden canopy:

I did this piece all the back in September, I really wanted to explore the painted environment style I discovered over the Summer break so I could add more of it to my environment section to show that I can repeat and recreate styles.

Digital still life study (from photo):

To build up my still life studies I took a photo that a friend of mine gave me and I sketched it out and painted over the sketch, my still life looked really black and white so I wanted to show that I can work with colour in a still life context.

Into the unknown:

My environment folder was filling up while my character folder only had three old fmp pieces, to start building up my character folder I drew Disney’s Elsa in her new “Frozen II” design to show that I can do detail, stylized shading.

College art classes:

To help my class bulk out our portfolios we did art classes that involved exercises where we had to draw people, hands and poses from the main board. It shows that I understand anatomy and can create tone with pencil traditionally.

Odd things:

This was a colour study I did of some objects in my house using oil pastels. I printed out a black and white image where I removed a lot of the value in the image digitally so that I could add most of the shadow in myself.

Pear studies:

I did both a colour and structure study of some pears using coloured pencils, I got a bit experimental with the shading of the final pear (it didn’t work out but I didn’t want to hide it since it shows that I try things even if they don’t work out).
