For this section of research I had to look into exhibition displays and how I could present my overall exhibition display, for the end of year exhibition everyone will be presenting their work, to help me out and to develop a better understanding of presenting work at an exhibition. I went ahead and made a mood board of some exhibit ideas along with photos of our colleges exhibit work .
The mood board shows decoration and really nice layouts for their presentation which is something I would really like to look into doing for my fmp exhibition again this year. This is what it looked like last year, it’s all aged a lot but I did put flowers around it to give it a little wow factor. I would like to do something similar for my FMP this year.

Photo research:
In order to better understand this I need to research presentation of work. I will be doing this by taking photos of other peoples displayed work (At college and at the industry event my college is going to) and using the internet for help by looking into mood boards and image examples.
This mood board here shows a range of exhibitions and displays to show off work created by people wishing to display work or products. While we won’t have tables for our exhibition we will have walls which can be decorated in certain ways, this can include:
- Titles or graphic design
- Catchphrases
- Banners
- Flowers and foliage
- Lights
- Unique layouts
A lot can be done to create a unique display which can be seen here, it shows me the potential in jazzing up a space and what I can do, it really inspires me. I’ve already spoken to my tutor about my exhibition and what I want to achieve with decoration, I would like to drape fake wisteria flowers around my work. It just gives my display a wow factor and it makes the display fit with my project rather than just being a white wall.
Like what I said earlier I went to take photos of other peoples college displays to see what they were up to and if I can take anything from theirs as inspiration. If I’m being honest not a lot of them interest me since most of them have a general layout of rectangular pieces of work without any decoration which I find really boring. There are however two that I find interesting here, The first one being the pink and blue 3D project that has a title and extra boards for decoration, I really liked this person’s display because of the extra effort put into the title and detailing.
The second one I liked was my classmates display that has his two characters cut out in the shapes of their design, I thought this was really really nice and unique. It was completely different from a lot of the displays which is why I liked it.
I don’t know if I will be able to do these cut out ideas with my display now due to the wisteria but if I can I might consider doing something like these cut outs as well.
As well as this there were displays at what is known as EGX Rezzard, sadly we couldn’t go this year due to the coronavirus causing the even to be delayed and moved. The event is used to show case games from various companies and studios, a lot of these displays do a lot to grab peoples attention and to get people to play their products.
They use things like banners, posters, cut outs and decoration on game setups to get attention. The banners include promotional art made for the game to catch peoples eyes with their colours and shapes. The cut outs are visually exciting and bring attention to themselves due to the size, dynamic poses and colours.
Of course we can’t do anything on this scale at the college exhibition but it just shows that eye catching displays will bring in more people who can become interested in the product which is why I would like to do something special for my display.
